ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME:

The general University admission policy is based on NUC approved admission requirement. Candidates offered admission should fulfil the minimum entry requirements stated against the Faculties into which they are admitted. All candidates should submit originals and two (2) photo-copies of their certificates or result slips. Statements of results from Schools are not accepted. Similarly, birth certificates and State of origin declaration are to be submitted. Candidates for 200 level admission must have obtained:

(a) Passes at the Advanced Level in G.C.E. (or any approved equivalent examination) in Two subjects and credits in the West African School Certificate in, at least, three other subjects.

(b) Passes at the Advanced Level in G.C.E. (or an approved equivalent examination) in three subjects and credit in the West African School Certificate Examinations in, at least, two other subjects

It should be noted that (a) and (b) apply provided that:

(i) The two or three G.C.E. “A Level” passes or equivalents are in Chemistry and Biology or Chemistry and Botany/Zoology.

(ii) At least 5 G.C.E. Ordinary Level/SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology (or Agricultural Science) and Physics.

Candidates for 100 level admission must have obtained:

(i) Marks high enough in the JME to meet the cut-off point set for the year in which their applications are being considered. They must have fulfilled the G.C.E.’O’ level/SSC requirements as stated above.

Holders of the following qualifications from Institutions recognised by the University may also be considered for admission into 200 level.

(i) Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Agriculture with an over-all Distinction pass.

(ii) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture with an over-all credit pass.

It should be noted that Diploma holders are also required to fulfil the Faculty’s ‘O’ level/SSC requirements as stated above.

In addition to the entry requirements specific to individual Faculties or Departments, the following are the general entry requirements approved for admission into first degree courses. Applicant with one of the following qualifications may be considered for admission by Direct Entry: (1) A minimum of Five (5) subjects passed at not more than tow (2) sittings with at least two (2) at the principal or advanced level of the GCE or IJMB and the others, at credit level of the SSCE/GCE O/L; (2) Merit passes in two (20 relevant major subjects in the NCE with SSCE/GCE O/L; credit or equivalent in three (3) other subjects (mainly for Education courses). Education may be accepted as a third A/L equivalent for those taking courses in Education; (3) Two (2) passes at the IJMB Examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools or Basic Studies terminal Examination or International Baccalaureate from recognised institutions with Senior School Certificate credits or equivalent in three (3) other subjects (subject to University requirements).
